Wood types

hi I'm going to start the PM 38.

I'm just starting to research wood options and I'm having a hard time.

What are common types that are readily available?

It's going to be a fresh water river boat if that means anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used oak for the frames and marine plywood for the planking in 2009.

On the first boat I built in 1962 I used yellow pine and ac plywood.

I was a kid back then and didn't have much money.
