Re-varnishing wooden flooring in yacht

by Allan
(W Aus.)

My flooring is beginning to look a bit sad.

I would welcome any suggestions as to the best way to attack this and the best product (for durability etc)to use.

Me thinks a semi gloss would be appropriate, but there are so many products on the market, that I have become somewhat confused.

Thanks
Allan

Re-varnish

Thanks Mike

I've done quite a bit of piecemeal re-varnishing (tabletops etc) when I can avoid dust throughout the boat by taking the item outside.

Now I'm trying to avoid complete sanding of the floor involving major clean up afterwards.

Hi Allan,

I'm not surprised that you are confused.

It’s not just the proliferation of products but all the advertising guff promising miraculous results until you read the caveats in the (very) small print.

I don’t think it matters all that much which product you use, the secret in in the preparation and maintenance.

Is this a cabin sole you are referring to or the floorboards in an open boat?
