63 Chris Craft Ski Boat windshiel install

I am re-installing my 63 windshield and I would like to know if glass setting tape is used on this boat.
The windshield panels are glass but I am pretty sure the boat has never been apart and I see no signs of silicone or glass setting tape.
The aluminum frame is kinda loose on the window panels.
Should I use glass setting tape?
I fear the addition of width might fracture the glass when forcing on the frame.
Anybody know???
